Trolli

Trolli is a German confectionery brand used by Trolli GmbH worldwide and by Ferrara Candy Company in the United States. Trolli GmbH sells gummy candies, marshmallows, and soft licorice gums in over 80 countries and has factories in Germany, Spain, Indonesia, China and the Czech Republic.

The process

The website needed tofollow the new brand claim “Let the fun win”. Therefore it had to be bold and funny, but without being kitsch; appeal the young generations without being overly complicated or without resulting not understandable by older generations.

The solution

The website is colorful, animated by a bold color palette working as graphical element as well as indicator of the different sections of the website. The icons are inspired by the emojis, in order to create a young language that is still understandable by everyone who uses any messaging apps. The bold character is reinforced by big typography as well as high contrast and big product images.

Trolli’s new icons were concepted to be bold and casual, yet well understandable.

Following the new brand’s claim “Let the fun win”, I used icons related to emojis for the filter type icon set.

The typography used is informal and casual, still well readable. The curved lines go along with the whole brand new language.
